With the continuing of the series after our cutoff point, it is difficult to ensure that the information provided on Wikipedia will continue to be accurate to our personal canon, nor is it always very detailed for certain species. The aim of this page is for any character to have a full grasp and understanding of what they need to know for a character within our world.
As this is by all means a work in progress, do feel free to message me with any requests for clarification, to add a new species to the list, or if I have forgotten something!~

First of all, welcome! If you are considering making a character for Burnt Offerings, this guide will be an incredible help to understanding both species and canon. Not familiar with the series? Don't worry! It is not a necessary requirement for most species.
There are a few requirements that must be completed in order to join Burnt Offerings. Don't panic, they are exceedingly simple.
Yes! Sanctuary has been granted! Now what?
Now you begin your one month probationary period. In this time, you will be welcomed into the dream and can begin to get to know everyone around you. If you are of a particular species with a group, the group leader will be made aware of your arrival, and they will meet with you. If you have been hired for a job, your employment will begin and training will occur if nessecary. The best use of this time is to get to know as many people as possible, and be involved!
Roleplay is a wonderful thing to do. And if you're on this website, you are likely a role player already. But like everything, role play comes with some ideas that are common sense to most,
Let's talk basic etiquette.
The IC/OOC rule: You are not your character. Your character is not you. It is inevitable at some point parts of your effort and self will end up developing your character, but it is imperative to draw this line of separation.
The knowledge rule: Your character only knows what he/she is told, or discovers in the process of roleplay. He/she does not know about what you may have read on a website, or chatted about in whispers/OOC chat. You are not omnipitent.
The assumption rule: Do not assume anything. If you suspect, ask for clarification. Do not react to any character's actions before they have had a chance to write them.
The appearance rule: Let someone make their entrance before you talk to them. Perhaps they have not arrived, or are planning something a little different, and don't want a general greeting. Be observant.
The anti-socialite rule: Don't play a purely antisocial character in a roleplay. Its annoying to repeatedly see someone post not talking to anyone or not doing anything. It is clearly fishing for attention, as no one signs on to play with themselves. No one wants to indulge someone who makes no effort. A character who has a bad day is one thing, a repeated course of this action is just frustrating.
Skills:
Relationships: Relationships take TIME to develop. Intimacy and sexual action on the first meeting earns you a reputation, not a mate. Do you want to be known as an RP slut? There are far too many of them in any role play universe. Do yourself a favor and play something meaningful, you will have more opportunities.
Drama: Got a great idea for a storyline or an event to implement in the RP world that you play in? LET THE RA/OWNER KNOW FIRST. This is common sense to most that an owner designates the story archs, and yet there are still those who cannot see past their own character in a community. As a dream owner I cannot stress to annoyance of those too selfish to consider a community before initiating their own interests. Often, if you are a considerate and thoughtful person with a good idea, the owner or Ra will be happy to support and help you make a storyline into a success, or help with weaknesses of the plan. Usually, you're going to get supported. So don't be so childish.
NPCs: Non-Player Characters, commonly known as NPCs, are vital to filling a busy scene, or enhancing a one on one experience. However, given their nature to be everything and anything, it is crucial to observe specific rules when using one. Unless otherwise stated, the NPC is in control of the player who introduces them to the role play situation. As with the assumption rule, do not assume anything of NPC's that has not been said. Use your NPC's creatively, add personality and descriptions, they will be more easily remembered.NPC's are meant to be enhancing, do not rely on them for the entire basis of an RP.
